Rimas Simaitis is a producer, entrepreneur, artist, and designer who currently lives in Menlo Park, CA.
He was born and raised in Coeur d’Alene, ID, and earned a BA in Business Management & Leadership,
along with a BA in Music from Seattle University. He was awarded a full fellowship to attend graduate
school at the University of California, Santa Barbara, where he earned his MFA in Spatial Studies & New Media. His graduate research
focused on how creative expression transmutes across mediums and cultural boundaries, and
develops into new genres and art forms.
After attending Seattle University, Rimas began his career in the music industry producing concerts, managing bands, and touring the West Coast.
In 2008 he founded an artist management company based in Portland, Oregon that promoted musical artists
through partnering with non-profit organizations to host concerts and events. During this time he was
inspired to pursue a career in visual arts, and ultimately carried his passion for music along with him.
He regularly explores the relationships between music, cultural exchange, and visual aesthetics throughout his work.
Upon completing graduate school at UC Santa Barbara in 2012, Rimas moved to Los Angeles where he founded a boutique
production studio and worked as a producer and designer in L.A.’s contemporary art & design industry.
He completed major projects for MOCA, the Getty’s Pacific Standard Time initiative, and served as the
Production Manager at The Mistake Room for 5 years where he managed and led teams to produce world-class
exhibitions including a new project from Diana Thater that travelled to the Guggenheim Museum in
Bilbao, Spain, and Thomas Hirschhorn’s first institutional exhibition on the West Coast.
In 2019 Rimas relocated to the San Francisco Bay Area and began working as the Special Projects Manager
at an experiential production studio in Mountain View. Under his leadership the company completed critical
projects for high-profile clients like Google, Amazon, and the San Francisco 49ers, and in 2020 after his
first year in a new industry, he was awarded Company MVP. In 2022 Rimas was recruited to work at Apple
where he led the design and development of retail experiences deployed around the globe. He currently has a
patent pending for his contributions to Apple’s renowned store designs.
Rimas currently lives in Menlo Park, CA with his wife and two children. He is seeking leadership opportunities in cultural production, and is pursuing a visionary endeavor
to help revitalize the art, music, and cultural vibrancy of the San Francisco Bay Area.
His art work has been exhibited at Soil (Seattle, WA), Roots & Culture (Chicago, IL), Charlie James Gallery (L.A.) and
Benrimon Contemporary (NYC). He was featured in the 2010 Idaho Triennial (Boise Art Museum), the 2012 New Wight Biennial (UCLA),
and the 2012 Call for Entries exhibit at the Museum of Contemporary Art in Santa Barbara. He has been awarded residencies at
the Ox-Bow School of Art (Saugatuck, MI), the Indianapolis Museum of Art, and at Wave Farm (Acra, NY).
