In 2019 a close friend asked me to design the logo for a restaurant he was opening up in Rhinebeck, NY. Starting with an ancient Irish symbol and a few adjectives, I worked with my friend and his business partners to shape the brand and logo for their new venture.

I began by ideating and scripting a few ideas in a sketchbook with a calligraphy pen, and kept the conversation going with the client. Once we decided on a direction to go in, I iterated on specific ideas that the client liked, and they sent me more inspiration as it came to them.

Once the logo was refined to a clear point, I brought the ideas from my sketchbook into Illustrator, and continued the iteration process. The final logo provided several options for the client to utilize, whether it was the full symbol, just the script, or the ancient Irish symbol in place of the i.
