Tinder Lobby Sculpture
Concept, Design, & Production
Our client came to us with a rough napkin sketch of a sculpture for Tinder's new office lobby in Palo Alto. The original design constraints
required LED lighting, and the sign could not be mounted to the wall due to a clause in the building's lease. My initial design included a 93" wide cabinet
that would be mounted to the floor against the wall (with no access to the rear).
After countless iterations and revisions,
the property management allowed for the final piece to mount to the wall which was in much better alignment with the original napkin sketch - however there
were still some fun design challenges. The entire sign was assembled using a special order high strength adhesive from 3M, and the only place mechanical fasteners were used
was to mount the Z cleat into the HDU foam on the rear of the sign.
