Rather than using a traditional audio mixer, each turntable is hooked up to its own FM radio transmitter. The radio(s) in front of the Soundsystem
are preset to a specific frequency, and to mix the music one turntable/transmitter is tuned to that frequency while the other is tuned out of frequency.
The system is solar powered, with a battery that lasts for approximately 20 minutes before it needs to be recharged.
This project was exhibited as part of my graduate thesis exhibition at UCSB, and it was also selected for the 2012 New Wight Biennial exhibition at UCLA.
